Ready to learn how to tie twine bows to gift packages? First, make sure your gift is wrapped. Then, make sure you have high-quality twine to use for your bow. Once you’re ready, follow these steps for how to tie a twine bow. 

1. Cut Your Twine to the Appropriate Size

It’s always better to be safe than sorry, so cut a piece of twine five times the length of the longest side of your present. This will ensure you have enough twine to learn how to tie twine around a box and into a bow. 

2. Tie Twine Around the Present

Before you get to the bow part, you need to know how to tie twine around a box. Here’s how to do it: 

  1. Lay your twine out on the ground in a straight line.
  2. Set your package upside-down in the middle of the twine, and make sure it’s centered.
  3. Take one end of the twine in each hand and cross it over the center of your package.
  4. Twist the twine 90 degrees and switch hands, laying the twine on the ground near the top and bottom of the package.
  5. Place a piece of tape on the twisted part of the twine to secure it to the present.
  6. Slowly flip the box over, so it’s right side up.

3. Tie a Twine Bow

Now that your twine is secured around the package, it’s time to learn how to tie a bow with twine. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Take one end of the twine in each hand and cross it over the center of your package.
  2. Cross the right piece of twine over the left and pull it under the left side and through.
  3. Place your finger at the center of the knot to keep the twine in place.
  4. Make a loop with the left twine string.
  5. Wrap the right string of the twine over the top and around the loop and tuck it through the open space to create the second loop.
  6. Pull tight.
