More About Climbing Lanyards
When it comes to tree-climbing supplies and Arborist Gear, nothing compares to having a high-quality lanyard at your side. Fortunately, SGT KNOTS has some of the best tree climbing lanyards available. Whether you're a newbie or a professional looking to upgrade your equipment list, these lanyards have been field tested and proven to keep you safe on every climb.
If you're a rock climber, you may or may not see the value of a standard climbing lanyard. Many new climbers like the convenience and extra safety that they add, which is why they're becoming far more commonplace.
However, when it comes to arborist equipment, lanyards are a must. Without a tree climbing lanyard attached to your waist, you'll have a much harder time scaling the tree and moving around with both hands. Even if you're not in the tree to trim branches or prune leaves, a lanyard gives you so much more flexibility and peace of mind.
As a trusted supplier of today’s Best Rope Products, SGT KNOTS works with only top-tier lanyard manufacturers. We're proud to sell some of the Best Brands in the industry, including Petzl, Kong, Pelican Rope, Notch, and others. Each of these companies has been rigorously tested and meets or exceeds our high standards.
How to Use a Lanyard for Climbing Trees
If you're new to tree climbing, you may not know how to use each piece of equipment in your pack. Fortunately, climbing lanyards are pretty simple devices that are easy to master. Your harness will come with two D-rings (one on each side). The lanyard attaches to one side, then you wrap it around behind the tree and connect it to the other ring.
Doing this creates a tight bond between you and the tree. As you move up the trunk, you can shift the lanyard with you. Then, when you need to stop to do some work, you can let go, and the lanyard will hold you in place. Some lanyards for are more flexible than others, meaning you can move around more (helpful when trimming and pruning).
Types of Tree Climbing Lanyards
There are two primary types of lanyards for climbing—adjustable and elastic. A basic elastic lanyard will stretch out as needed and then return to its normal shape when you're all done. This lanyard works well if you just need something quick and easy and you know what you're doing.
However, the elasticity can feel a bit awkward for newbies, so you might prefer an adjustable lanyard. In this case, you can add or subtract rope to tighten or loosen the lanyard's grip on the trunk. This way, you're more in control and feel secure at all times.
